ViewPort v4.1 is now out of Beta.
Thanks to the incredible help from my amazing beta testers: Andy, Ingolf, Sapieha, Bryan, Bill, Paul, TJ, Harley, George and Mike! Any remaining bugs will be squashed in the next release. Please download the latest from here I still have a couple things to finish of in the next couple days: posting the developer's kit, sending out new license keys to existing customers, and updating the website.
Here a list of some of the new capabilities:
-Integrated Spin Code Debugger: set breakpoint, pause code, step one line at a time, call stack, profiler
-OpenCV plugin that integrates world-class computer vision (used by Stanford to win the DARPA challenge) with ease of integration of the Propeller
-Terminal object that's compatible with Full_Duplex_Serial variants. Simply replace with the terminal object and you've integrated with ViewPort
-Support for String and Float types both for monitoring and changing variables of those types
-Fully supports Vista and 64 bit XP
-Real AC-coupling mode for variables. When set to AC, the variables average value is removed- perfect for looking at values with a constant offset
-Use other channel to scale and offset variables with the improved formula property
-Lots of bug fixes

ViewPort v4.1 is solid, stable and versatile. A very impressive achievement.

Now, I am going to incorporate ViewPort in several of my research investigations.

    Hanno, great work!

    This looks cool.
If we buy the Standard version and want to upgrade to the Ultimate later on, is there an upgrade option other than paying full price for Ultimate?

Looks like you can on Hanno's site - http://mydancebot.com/viewport/register.php

I don't know if Parallax is offering this option though.

At the moment Parallax is only selling 2 versions of ViewPort (ultimate with everything and standard which is slow speed but includes the debugger). Whit is right, you can upgrade functionality at any point here- you enter your existing key, click what functionality you want, pay, then enter the upgraded key into ViewPort. When you get to the Ultimate level, you'll be upgraded for free to future v4.x "Ultimate" levels which will include additional functionality as I build it. Existing v4.x customers will get their new license in a couple days- enjoy the 30 day free trial of everything until then... Thanks for the support and thanks Whit for answering a ViewPort question!

    Hanno,

    I downloaded Viewport 4.1.1.

I am using 64 Bit Vista.

It worked well ans I was able load the tutorials but when I tried to load the Demos from parallax that came with propeller tool I get
an error message. " Timed out ".

I tried with 2 other Propeller chips - with the same error message.
The propeller chips are recognized by View port - using configuration tab.

    Please help.

    Siri

P.s - I also have the previous version - Registered and how do I register the new version
My previous version is is registered under e-mail : higbymax@aol.com

    Regards,

    Siri

    Hanno,
I got view port to work.

It was my fault - ?? I did not really follow your instructions properly.

    Sorry for that.

    regards,

    Siri

    Hi Siri,
Congrats for solving your own problem. Can you tell us what you did wrong? Then I can include tips in the documentation/improve ViewPort so others don't have your problem.

I'm slowly upgrading existing customer licenses. Look for an email with the new license in the next couple days. If you need one urgently, let me know...

ViewPort 4.1 seems to have trouble displaying the correct file in "view code" mode of the "debugger". In fact, ViewPort 4.1 deleted my top program and replaced it with a dependent spin file (really!). Also, there are problems with the editor in incorrect syntax highlighting, which is quite annoying because I just end up switching to the Propeller Tool, but changes aren't reflected (or rather, reported) in ViewPort (which is understandable in some respects...). I guess I can start posting error messages if I get them (which I seem to regularly, which is pretty disheartening in a version 4.1 program).

I guess I can rant some more but I need to recreate my top program from an archived version. It's too bad ViewPort 4.1 has these major bugs, because it was (when it worked) a quick and easy way to look at the memory contents to make sure things were working.

    Hi dwelve,
I apologize about ViewPort's problems. I know about the incorrect syntax highlighting and will resolve that once the higher priority issues are resolved. For now, a good workaround is to do most of your code development in the Propeller Tool, and use ViewPort for debugging. That's what I do.
Losing a file shouldn't happen- if you're able to recreate that bug please tell me so I can fix it right away. I'll look in the code in the mean time.
Some parts, like the recently added debugger and opencv modules are less stable than the rest of ViewPort- they've just been added. Best way to help resolve the remaining bugs are to send in the bug reports with a quick comment telling me roughly how you got to the bug. And- as always, feel free to contact me...
ViewPort is quite a complex piece of software- I need your help to make it stable. Customers who choose to invest in the process now get free upgrades to all v4.x versions of ViewPort.
