How to Successfully Set .SXB File Associations in Windows Vista

Hi guys,
I had a rather obscure problem with setting .SXB file associations. It was getting annoying having to open SXKey.exe, then select "File," then "Open," then find the file, etc. I know what you're thinking: "just use the Default Programs utility to set the file association." Well it didn't work! I classify myself as a Windows "power user." I know my away around the OS rather well, and it was impossible to select "SXKey.exe" as the default program.
So here's a summary of what's going on:
YOU MAY REQUIRE THIS FIX IF:
If these conditions aren't true, but you're having trouble setting the file associations, skip to part two of the solution below.
THE PROBLEM:
Somewhere along the upgrade process, a filepath in the Windows registry doesn't get properly updated. This discrepancy prohibits the current SXKey.exe program from being eligible to open .SXB files.
THE SOLUTION:
Part One
Part Two
That's it! You should now be able to open any .SXB file in SXKey.exe just by double-clicking on the file.

So here's a summary of what's going on:
YOU MAY REQUIRE THIS FIX IF:
- Your PC uses Windows Vista.
- You previously had SX-Key v3.2.3 installed on your PC.
- You upgraded to SX-Key v3.2.92 at some point.
- You cannot set .SXB files to open with SXKey.exe.
Part One
- Click on the Windows icon/Start Menu and select "Run."
- Type "regedit" into the dialog box and click "OK"/hit Enter.
- In the left navigation pane, follow the following folder path:
Computer > HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT > Applications > SXKey.exe > shell > open > command
- In the right pane, double-click the only key there. It's labeled "(Default)."
- In the resulting dialog box, replace this string in the "Value data" field:
"C:\Program Files\Parallax Inc\SX-Key v3.2.3\SXKey.exe" "%1"
with this one:"C:\Program Files\Parallax Inc\SX-Key v3.2.92\SXKey.exe" "%1"
- If the filepath to your SXKey.exe program is any different, modify the string accordingly.
- Exit the Registry Editor.
Part Two
- Right click on any .SXB file and select "Open With" and then "Choose Default Program..."
- When the "Open With" dialog appears, if SXKey.exe isn't already present, select "Browse" and find the SXKey.exe file.
- Make sure the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" checkbox is checked.
- Click "OK."
OR - Click the Windows icon/Start Menu and hover over "Control Panel."
- Select "Default Programs" in the resulting list.
- Click on "Associate a file type or protocol with a specific program."
- Select ".sxb" then click "Change program..."
- When the "Open With" dialog appears, if SXKey.exe isn't already present, select "Browse" and find the SXKey.exe file.
- Make sure the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" checkbox is checked.
- Click "OK."
That's it! You should now be able to open any .SXB file in SXKey.exe just by double-clicking on the file.
