Parallax USB Memory Stick Datalogger to log a serial output

I have a question I have an aftermarket fuel computer in my car and it has the option for serial data-logging to a pc. It is a one wire setup. Would it be possible to use the Parallax USB Memory Stick Datalogger to log the input from the fuel computer directly or would i need a basic stamp in between the fuel computer and the logger?

You will need a few details from the owners manual on your aftermarket fuel computer to successively retrieve the data. What make and model? Does it·use a Windows-based program to send the data to a PC. If not, confirm the protocol - is it RS232 coming from a UART?

Post the details and someone on the forum may be able to help.

Even after getting the details of the protocol, levels, etc. you still need a microcontroller to talk to the Datalogger, because the module requires commands to set the filename and write the data. It is not autonomous. Take care.
