i have a 24 volt speed controller of a motor and i want to connect it with basic stamp 2 education board. Is it possible to
connect it and send pulses to the controller without destrying my basic stamp?

The input on the controller MAY work directly from the stamp [I've done it with some controllers]
but I suggest transistor or I like using a 74HC241 chip if I'm feeding a 24V controller.

You can use an optoisolator for your application and they are pretty inexpensive. The Fairchild MCT6 - http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=MCT6-ND·-
is a dual and is $0.91 for quantity 1 at Digikey. They also have single and 4 channel units if needed.

Do you have a link to the speed controller? My guess is that it has an RC in, which would work for you.
