SX28 and the OEM BS2sx board

So as· I posed in the Basic Stamp forum, I picked up 2 OEM boards, which come with the PBASIC2sx interpreters (presumably in mask programmed SX28).

I was wondering if anyone has taken these boards with a programmable SX28 and done anything interesting with this setup.

Popping a regular SX into the OEM board is an interesting idea, but what does it get you? A level shifter for serial in/out to a PC, and an external I2C eeprom. There is no programming header, so the chip would need to be popped out for programming. Personally, I would just use an SX protoboard, and if I needed the level shifter or eeprom, I could add those for a few dollars.
