N64 Controller Power Draw

I've been trying to interface a Nintendo 64 controller to my Demo Board (as shown here) but every time I connect the wires the power dips and the board browns out. I've been using 2 power supplies: a 9v 210 mA wall wart and a 4-AA-Battery power supply that came with my Boe-Bot. Neither of them work. Can anyone suggest a power supply that will?

If a 4aa power pack won't supply your power needs I think you need to look at the possibility of a short or reversed pins somewhere.

are you using an extension cable? if so, some have odd colored wires where the color doesn't make sense, and the pins need to be checked out with a multimeter for continuity

I've done the N64 successfully and documented my connections.
Grab a multimeter and check your setup again what I put in the Cookbook (below)
