Hi,
I was playing around with GPS and I didn't want to spend too much so I bought one usb GPS receiver from ebay for $28 shipping inlcuded.
It is produced by Anadigi and the GPS chip is Nemerix http://www.nemerix.com/products/NJ1030A-ds13.pdf. and it comes with antenna.
Probably not the best but...c'mon..for $28!!!!!!
It was preatty easy to adapt to bypass the USB interface and get the serial stright out·of the chip.
The footprint is pretty small, check the size compared to the button battery.
The power should be 5V but it worked with 3.3 as well.
Signal comes form pin 5 of PL-2303 chip and power as per picture.
·I just added a resistor to interface with the prop, I downloaded the GPS_IO_Mini driver and adjusted the speed (9600 for this model) and it worked right away.
It is not much but I hope someone else could benefit from this post.
Ciao

That PL-2303 looks like it might be a lot cheaper than the FT232R I'm using...
This place sells it for $5.

Performance is surprisingly good, but it's more expensive.
