Super Bright USB Rx/Tx LEDs on BS2sx

I'm working on a project that needs to have bright, eye-catching lights.· I noticed the tiny Rx/Tx LEDs (at least the schematic says they're LEDs) near the USB jack on the Board of Education project board are amazingly bright.· A·slightly scaled up version of those would probably be just what I need.· Can anyone tell me what kind of LEDs these might be?· I've never seen anything like them.· Thanks.

    SMD LEDs.

    If you want through holes, try looking at mouser. They allow you to select the intensity, mounting style, and more options to fit your needs. If you want something bigger (but really bright!), take a look at sparkfun. They have an LED that I tested out today (red in this case) that I could distinctly see at 1600 ft...

    That was the furthest open space that I could test in. Maybe tomorrow night I'll find a longer open space and see what I get.
