uOLED-128-G1 Question with uSD's

I am reading the manual for this device and when it talks about initializing memory cards it says...

The memory card is always initialized upon Power-Up or Reset cycle, if any card is present.

This makes little sense unless I am reading this wrong.

I don't want the memory on the uSD cleared unless I make a concient effort to.

Can any of you clear this up?

Initialized is not the same as formated. Initialization does not alter any data on the card, but rather, prepares the card for access. There is a separate uSD init command that must be used if the uSD card is inserted after the display is powered on or reset.
