Hi people !

I'm still in design process of a board. Which SD card would you use for a new project ? Micro SD || Common SD size ?
Another question is: Will common SD's disapear from market soon ? What do you think ?
I supposse that I'll be able to use micro SD with fsrw driver.... or not ?

Thanks everybody. !

Hi BTX, depends on you're personal preference, if you want a small board, go Micro SD, if you're using a Dip40 Prop, go Common SD.
Yes, you can use FSRW with microSD :D so no worries there.
and I doubt SD will disappear soon, there's far too many things with them in now, so it'd be a bad move to pull it from the market anytime soon, plus if they pull those, how would we get them into the computer, as they need to go in the MicroSD to SD·card :D

Oh, ok Baggers thanks so much.

So, maybe I'll decide this, by cost of the sockets. I need to search in Digikey now. smile.gif
(I was afraid about a MicroSD 2 SD adapter in the future, and no more standard SD cards.)

I also want to ask a question: smile.gif

The new SDHC work without problem, they are compatible?

Thank you.

I'm not sure, but I think that fsrw wont work with SDHC cards.

Now I'm looking for a connecting diagram for MicroSD card & I can't found it, there's not mention of it in Rokicki code, only for standar SD is a pin diagram.
I found a possible socket in DigiKey it's DM3C-SF, sounds good for me, but pins are #8(DAT1), #7(DAT0), #6(Vss), #5(CLK), #4(Vdd), #3(CMD), #2(CD/DAT3), #1(DAT2).
Where to find how to connect to CS, Di, D0 ???

Thanks in advance who can answer this !!

Here's how I wired it to pins #0,1,2,3 of the Prop...

I think you saw my post with a photo of the board...

I works without the pullup resistors R3,6,10..13.

Oh Thanks so much Ray !!
Yes, I saw your post of the board, but impossible on this to see the hardwired of the socket.
Where did you find the info ??

My research indicated a conflict with which pin is the -CS pin. It seems to be on pin 1 (SDcard) and pin 2 (uSD) - it is shared with D3. The microSD only uses 8 pins (drops the second Gnd pin and is different).
This is what I believe - if anyone believes otherwise, please post and I will correct...
SD card 1=-CS, 2=Din/Cmd, 3=Gnd, 4=+3V3, 5=SCLK, 6=Gnd, 7=Dout, 8=D1, 9=D2 [underside champfer pins 912345678, 7 & 8 are the two narrower pins, 9 is further back]
uSD card 1=D2, 2=-CD/D3, 3=Cmd, 4=+3V3, 5=CLK, 6=Gnd, 7=D0, 8=D1

For an SD to Prop, this is what I have found (once again, please post if wrong)
SD card 1=-CS on P3, 2=Din on P2, 5=CLK on P1, 7=Dout on P0, all with pullups. Gnd to Gnd.

I am going for uSD because the projections for supply are with the uSD card. There are passive SD to uSD adapters. I bought a 1GB uSD + SD adapter for A$7 (<US$5) over 6 months ago. The uSD is much harder to solder however. It is highly possible to place both connectors on the pcb over the top of one another - then you can fit either smile.gif

As discussed elsewhere, over 2GB does not use FAT and is subject to microsoft patents. Someone will no doubt overcome this as the higher storage devices become desirable.
