Smart stepper motors?

I barely understand how steppers work... so this thing boggles my mind.

Is this legit and would it be as useful as it sounds?

It looks like a tiny stepper, with a microcontroller built in for easy control. No motor drivers needed it seems. Nice!

Anyway, looks like a really cool motor. Tiny too! It even has an encoder! amazing little thing, maybe the fund needs one...

Edit, although, on a test of the shopping cart to see how much it would cost total in USD, it says that the merchant is not active. Maybe soon? It looks like a new site.
Edit again: I used their little contact box asking for information. I'll post what I get back...

Sorry about the broken shopping cart; I shut-down the ordering system recently but haven't got around to posting an official notice.

I took a sort of 'dream job' at WowWee R&D in Hong Kong and sold my hobby robotics products to RobotCraft. Phenostream OEM sourcing is still in full swing (the part that actually makes money) but I'm afraid it's a wrap for Phenostream robotics. Having said that, I am still shipping OpenStepper Modules and SDIO boards from the 80 or so remaining at the Shenzhen office. If you'd like some of these just PayPal my office manager <jennyfang@phenostream.com> and she'll ship them out to you. I get a couple emails a week asking about OSM/SDH and the offer I make is three OSM's and one SDH plus shipping for $99CAD.
