Congratulations on the inauguration of a new president ... Here's hoping that Mr. Obama he will live up to all expectations and help to stabilise the world economy and worldwide relations ... Personally I believe he will...

SRLM, just remember that word I taught you:
DINGLEBERRIES.
As for the new Pres, I do wish him well. If he can function half as good as he can give a speech, then there's hope yet. I can't imagine what it must be like to be faced with all the problems he's got right now. There's an old Chinese curse that says, "May you live in interesting times." I think it's interesting now and it's gonna get even more interesting these next 6 months. One thing I worry about is the possibility of good companies that supply parts I need going under during all this credit madness. I was thinking about buying another hundred barrels of plastic resin and stockpiling Propeller chips and storing it all in my blast-proof bunker, but the builder making my bunker couldn't buy cement and went bankrupt. Then I found out that all that plastic resin I bought was made in China and somehow got contaminated by infant formula. My new motto has become FWN? I won't tell you what it stands for except that the W = What and the N = Next.
FWN?
Mark
The 'may you live in interesting times' reminds me a talk show I listen to (Dan Carlin...), he uses it all the time. Whether you voted for the new officers that are taking office or not, it's sort of exciting. You might be able to compare it to going on a trip to visit a really annoying aunt: the aunt will slobber you with kisses and hugs, but you get out of the house. Perhaps a better analogy would be leaving middle school and going into high school. This is the first time in my memorable life (where I actually know what a president does and means) that somebody new is going to be there. I know O'Reilly of the publishing house supported him, so along with the rest of the world I'll watch and see what happens. Maybe he'll break out in stress zits?
Would anyone from Parallax mind letting us know how the company is handling the current situation?

Obama has a terrible task ahead of him – Good luck America. The world depends on the skills of this one man.

yes, I know we shouldn't get political on here, which is why I was trying to sound emotionally neutral about the past 8 years. But I did raise a valid question about the economic situation we're all in and I'm very glad Ken Gracey chimed in with some comforting news. That being said, I doubt Parallax would mind it very much if we started stockpiling their chips. Once the economy recovers, the next problem will be rampant global inflation. Those chips at $12 today will be worth $400 or $500 two years from now. Think of it as a wise investment. (Mr. Madoff are you listening???)
BTW, anybody out there in need of industrial quantities of plastic resin/baby formula???
There are much more productive things we can focus on in these trying times. Perhaps we should start a thread to get input on sensor and accessory ideas from our forum members…sure…let’s do that. See the following thread as I attempt to shift this discussion from politics to new products…

Chris, I know that discussions of politics and religion can become very heated at times but if we censor ourselves or allow others to do so we will loose the freedom to express our opinions. I respect a persons right to express their views as long as they do so in a reasonable and polite manner and allow me to do the same. If they do not do so I will simply ignore them, and in the case of this forum you also have the option of removing them.
I also hope that President Obama lives up (at least partly) to the promises he made and the expectations people have of him. On an optimistic note I think he would have to work at it extremely hard to do worse than Bush. We can only go up from here.
PS John, I like that. "Bushed" has just been added to my dictionary. After the last few years of George it has been given a very definitive connotation.
SLRM, Quatro, It seems that every generation worries about and thinks the next generation is hopeless. We were a minority in our generation, and the next generation has about the same percentage of techno weenies (that's us) as ours did. I see them on this forum (I'm 1011 is one) and at the science fairs when my kids were in high school. Some of the projects I saw there were pretty impressive for that age group.
I will also be the first to admit that to some I may seem a bit tough on such things. If it were another forum admin perhaps this would not be an issue. I am doing what I think is best based on my experience on these forums. This is the same as getting pulled over by a police officer for speeding. You might get an officer who gives you a warning or you might get one who gives you a ticket. I guess I am the one who gives the ticket. At the same time I have tried to make sure that every·member who posts here is getting the help they need.·

I doubt you’ll have much argument from forum members. Indulge the members. The people on this site are ALL technical savvy, above average intelligence, amazingly helpful, generally very accepting and middle class. The exit polls showed that those types of people voted just one way…··
Well done America, now the hard work begins.· (Remember that you are the engine for the world economy, it’s time to rev it up)··

I apologise!!!
I apologise for poking fun at the US voter, yes voting is a serious and important obligation. Most educated South Africans followed the US poll quite closely, coming to grips with the issues and platforms of ALL the candidates. Perhaps because we were further away from the hype, we got a better view than some US voters did. (It may supprise you that many people living outside the USA have a fairly good grasp of US history, politics, economics or technology. For example, two of my favourite people from history are Robert E Lee and Abe Lincoln. I’ve been watching the US SEC squirm over Madoff . I probably know more than most people do about Chrysler’s restructuring)
To put this back on a light hearted note, we in South Africa are coming up for presidential elections. The radio announced on Tuesday that campaigning in my area had been trouble free. Only three political party officials had been murdered. The police said that ONLY two of the murders were politically motivated and the third was probably gang related (Ouch). We are just dying to vote for our chosen candidate.
