Does SXSim have a problem with Vista?

Hey folks,

I've been unable to get SXSim to work and I'm wondering if it is because I'm on Vista (32 bit)

I downloaded all of the SXSim files and installed them in a directory and loaded the application (ok so far). The I press the Load File button and navigate to the test.lst which came with the distribution. Upon selecting it I get:

Run time error '13': type mismatch

if I click ok the program terminates ...

Any ideas?

David

No ideas but, one of the machines I am running sxsim on is Vista 32, and so far I haven't seen any problems with it.

    David,

which version of SXSim do you use? You can download the most recent version 2.08.06 from the "sticky" post at the top of the SX section. As far as I can remember, a former version of SXSim sometimes reported an error 13 which I fixed in 2.08.06.

Nevertheless, as I now have one machine with Vista here (Arghhh!!!), I will test SXSim for any incompatibilites under Vista.

    natpie and NetHog,

    thanks for your "compatibility reports".

    David,

should you still have trouble with the latest version of SXSim and test.lst, please send me a copy of the test.lst file you are using.

    Hello All

I'm new to the the SX family of $stamps, But I've used the BS2's for a while. I bought a new laptop last year with Vista on it. After My old Laptop died. I don't like Vista at all but thats a whole other discussion. However I have found that Vista is Hit and miss with USB drivers. Some times My USB Parallax Oscope works and some times it doesn't. This is also true to My logic analyzer for the BS2. Printer drivers, Ethernet , ETC.

I've herd a lot of people are running XP inside of VISTA, I thought of trying this My self. Has anyone done this successfully?

I have a dual core Intel CPU maybe this makes a difference in Vista performance or short comings?

I used to use a serial SX-Key with a serial-USB adapter on my Vista laptop. It would program an SX successfully about once every ten attempts. Inside XP, which was installed on a VM (VirtualPC), it would successfully program almost everytime.

Since I upgraded to the USB SX-Key, I can program SX chips directly from Vista with no problem. The only problem I've encountered with any SX related tool is I can't set ".SXB" files to be associated with the SX IDE.

Thanks - I'm at a conference this week but once I get home to my desktop I'll check it out. I had downloaded the version from the parallax software download section.

Ok - with the latest version downloaded from this forum it works great - thank you.

It is the download from the Parallax site which does not work - I don't know how closely you work with parallax - but I would of thought it would be good to make the 'latest' version adn the 'official' version the same.
