Saw this and had to pass it on! Truly awesome!

...Like clowns that keep coming out of a clown car.

Wow! Yeah, my first reaction was, "Where is all that coming from?" The clown car comparison is certainly apt! Here is a page that dispels the mystery (but not the wow factor).

Very cool Phil, I never thought of using a zipper like that before, That may come in handy some day for a really cool Mech Camera to pear over buildings in a computation to find the other Mech and for a maze guidance system as well.

It made me laugh... Thanks! I had an idea a while back for making a tall mast from a small vehicle: the basic principle is a chain that is wound in a coil, with a cable along the back. As the cable is tightened, it unfurls upward. The tough part is getting a perfectly straight mast and getting it to go back down correctly. It never came to fruition do the the challenges of manufacturing my own chain. However, the zipper method seems to be much more elegant.

I can just imagine looking out the window, and seeing a slowly rising camera on a pole looking in... Forget about the CIA monitoring your phone calls. This is the ultimate invasion of privacy! :)
