Connection troubles?

Hi there!

I'm having trouble with communication between my PC and my SX key.

For reference...
-64 bit Vista PC
-SX Tech Development Board
-SX key with an SX28
-7.5V, 1 amp DC power supply
-USB cable supplied with the SX key
-software is SX-Key v3.2.3

Whenever I start up the editor, the configure panel displays Com1, Com4, and R as available
inputs. I have been using Com4, although I have tried the other two options.
With everything plugged in, I told the editor to run a standard LED equivalent of hello world,
and dialog boxes come up which kindly inform me of the frequency generated by the key
and another which displays the reset and programming progress bar. The programming bar
completes, and the LED on my board blinks as it should, but a dialog box pops up which says
"Could not find SX-key on Com4." I would love to ignore this because I am able to download
and run programs on my SX, but when I tried to run in debug mode the "could not..." error
appeared again and I am unable to run the program in debug mode.

TLDR, my SX-Key is not properly communicating with my PC somehow. My power supply is adequate,
the USB is actually plugged into the SX-key and my PC, and the SX-key is orientated correctly.

Any help would be appreciated :)

You need to download version 3.2.92h beta to use the USB version of the SX-Key.

You can get it from here http://www.parallax.com/Portals/0/Downloads/sw/sx/Setup-SX-Key-Editor-v3.2.92h-BETA.exe.zip

    Thank you.

I no longer receive any connection errors, but all of the options on the debug menu remain grayed out.

What frequency are you clocking the SX ? If you use a frequency that the key cannot generate, that is what happens.

Try 20MHz, I know that works.

    Ah.

I was clocking it at 1 MHz. That was the example program's default :P

I set it to 20MHz, and it worked just fine.

    Thanks :)
