Convert Omnibook 4100 14.1" to touchscreen: Cheapest way?

I've got an old 14.1 Omnibook sitting around, partially disembowled. I can get it to run various flavors of Linux, as well as Win 95 & 98. I don't really have any use for it, so I wanted to convert it into a touch screen; just for fun.
Now most of the touch screen overlays that output something mouse-like cost over $150. Is there a cheaper way of doing this?
