Switch Power with a BS

If one were to want to replace a light switch in a house with a BS2, where would one find a component that could take the 110 in and then be switched on or off? Don't worry, I probably won't electrocute myself.

A relay would do. You should probably drive the relay with a small transistor, however. You can get relays for high voltage like 120VAC at radioshack if you want it fast. As for the transistor, a common 2n3904 would do just fine. Just at a 1k resistor between the base and BS2 pin.

Sparkfun has a very nice tutorial on how to convert a 120 v outlet to be controllable by a uC (like the BS2). Total project cost came out to be about $20.

Awesome, thanks. I'm now sitting here trying NOT to go to sparkfun, because I really want to try to figure it out myself.

Figure it out, then go to sparkfun so you make sure that you get all the important safety considerations. Don't want to electrocute yourself or burn down the house...
