What do you think is the best kit to try after the Boe-Bot with no attachments?

Please pick one:

-Gripper Kit
-Crawler Kit
-QTI Line Follower Kit
-Tank Treads Kit
-Boe-Bot CMUCam Kit
-Digital Encoder Kit

These vary widely in cost. I would get the digital encoder or line follower kit first because these would give you a very different kind of robot behavior that you can't really do with the BoeBot by itself. The digital encoder allows you to try navigation by providing more accurate positioning information. The line follower allows you to have the robot follow marks. You could interrupt the tape on the floor to provide identification information (like Morse code labels).

The CMUcam is the most expensive and complex, but if you're interested in image processing, could give you a start on that.
The Stamp isn't well suited for doing much with the image information other than using the CMUcam's processor to track colored objects.

Just my two cents - the best next steps after Robotics with the Boe-Bot in order are:

IR Remote for the Boe-Bot·(Free PDF download, and all you need is a universal remote)

Smart Sensors and Applications·(Great sensors for your Boe-Bot)
    + Ping))) Mounting Bracket

Stamps in Class "Mini-Projects"·(Many applications that use Smart Sensors)

    SumoBot Competition Kit (Challenging)

I like the ping on a turret. It's fun to watch the BOE-BOT roam around with the 'eyes' (as non-technical people call it) swivel.

Oops. Sorry, I didn't notice that the Ping wasn't on your list. Deliberate exclusion, or mistake?

These are all wonderful and you can't go wrong.
I think the crawler kit is awesome and loads of
fun, cool to assemble and understand, and seems
to be one of the most impressive ways of moving
a BoeBot. Everyone seems to love it.

I think, that by getting the crawler kit then the ping sensor you can do a whole lot more with your robot. The crawler kit allows the boe-bot to go many more places safely. The ping sensor allow your boe-bot to naviate more freely and not have to be programed to a certain course. A third thing that wasnt on your list was the gps unit, and combined with the other two things ou get a boe-bot that goes anywhere and can map things and explore terrain anywhere.
