BS2 or SX or Other, Which to learn about Microcontrollers?

For someone starting on microcontrollers, with an interest in machine design, mechanical engineering, and general tinkering, would your experience suggest starting on the BS2 or biting the bullet and starting on the SX, or something different altogether?· I got the stampworks kit for christmas, so I have the BS2 and the PDB.· The more I read however, the more I wonder if the SX is the better place to start.· I am not looking to start a forum battle, just looking to draw from the experience of those more·seasoned than myself.

Thanks

David

Since you have the Stampworks kit already then·start with that.· The transition to the SX is easy with SX/B.· I think that the BS2 is a gentler start for someone with no related experience.

I agree with PJ Allen and recommend that you start learning with the BS2.

The Basic Stamp has been around longer than the SX, and so there is a lot more information available on the stamps, and that info is generally geared more for the beginner.

Also, keep in mind, all you need to get started with th SX will be to buy a programmer (either the SX key or Blitz) since your PDB already has a socket for the SX-28, so you will be able to step up to the SX whenever you feel you're ready to do so.
