It looks like a standard current transformer.

Sam, what do you plan to do with them?

though it stats it can sense up too 30 amps. It will required a large wattage resistor in parallel with it to take some of the burden off of it.

It·can sense up to 30 amps because the primary side of the transformer is one turn of # 10 solid wire

    Franklin

    I going to use·one in a project called ·Electronic Fuse Controller· controlled ·by a Basic Stamp

    Leon

This the first time I have seen one this small that will handle 30 amps

I want to Thank all three of you for your replies

Sounds interesting. I suppose you will rectify and smooth the output, then use the BS to measure the voltage?

What type of caps would you recommend for smoothing out the output

The current will be quite low, so something like 470 uF might be OK. A little ripple shouldn't cause any problems. I don't know much about the BS, but I suppose it has some way of measuring voltage.

You have to use a ADC0831 8-bit A/D converter DIP to be able to measure voltage with a Basic Stamp

I will try this with a 470 uF to start with and see what happens

Thanks for your input to this Project and· idea.gifs
