RFID /w HID ProxCard II

I got the parallax RFID reader as a christmas present yesterday. I hooked it up to my PC and am able to read the cards supplied with the kit.

However I'm unable to read a HID ProxCard II card. I've confirmed that the ProxCard II is a 125khz card, any thoughts on why I'm unable to read it?

Just because it's the same frequency doesn't mean it will read it.
There are many different data formats.

Fair enough, I'm fairly new to RFID. I figured I would ask prior to ordering more RFID cards since I already have two in my wallet and another in my pocket (none work with the new reader).

From page 2 of the datasheet:

"The Parallax RFID Card Reader works exclusively with the EM Microelectronics-Marin SA EM4100-family of passive read-only transponder tags at 125 kHz.".

You will probably have to get a card reader from HID.

I will most likely end up buying more tags. At the rate I'm going I will have a keyring of RFID cards. ;)

Parallax does offer a fine selection of tags for the RFID Reader, however if you’re requirements call for more options, please see the following website for additional options. Bear in mind that you still have to use the 125 kHz Unique Tags. I hope this helps. Take care.
