Well, it's not really a propellor related item but I spend a good deal of time in this forum. So, Cannibal Robotics is in a new shop and we've posted the pics: http://cannibalrobotics.com/Shop.htm

Ya Hoo!

That's cool, but it might be the kind of thing better accepted in your .sig, than in an OT message.
(That is, unless you've already rented it out....)

>Signature space for rent, only $1.
>Send cash and signature to CannibalRobotics.

You have no idea how tempted I've been to send you a $1 via Paypal... :)

Edit -- PS: I'm green with envy over those pics.. Can I move in???

It's so clean and orderly. How on earth do you get anything accomplished?

That's the best way to do things... I used to build models, and never cleaned up my shop, until I realized that doing a clean up at the end of the day allows me to easily switch projects or find the right tool the next time. Of course, it's a personal preference.

Well, it was one of those magic moments when it was completely clean.
My rule is that when it takes longer to hunt down a tool than it takes to clean up, we get out the broom.

I have a somewhat different rule, which might explain why I have five pairs of scissors. smile.gif The last time my shop was that clean was when the insurance inspector paid a visit. My local agent had warned me that "housekeeping" was a determinative factor in setting a rate. Boy, that got my attention! Thankfully, such an inspection was a one-time occurance.

Jim - Cannibal,

Nice shop. I can see that you'll grow into it, too. You still have room for tools as well as a lot of wall space. The real disaster with shop planning is when you undersize, as I have done.

Phil,

I think you are organized where it counts. For example, you used to organize your components by project, whereas today you keep components organized by size and type. Big difference! But from the photos I can see that it's just a bit of organized distress. I think that cat (Browser) sorta goes with the environment, though. As he tip-toes across shelves and computers I think he causes just enough chaos as papers slide onto the floor, the soldering iron tips over, etc. Most people would absolutely laugh at my shop. It's so organized that you can't start another project till you clean the current one up. Everything is set up just the way I like it.

Yeah, I'm still picking up from when he knocked a whole drawerful of #4 fasteners onto the floor! He's not allowed in the back room (my sanctum sanctorum) where I do all my soldering. Adding to the general disarray is one thing; burning the place down would be quite another!

Real story... Late 70's

The storeman goes on leave and our new assistant storeman is soo eager to please. He begins to tidy the store.

All diodes go into a new "diode" box - no need for 100's of boxes for these same looking diodes.
All the fuses of the same size go into a new large box. Same goes for 14 pin IC's, 16 pin IC's - you get the picture.

A week later the storeman returns. The assistant is so pleased to show him the extra spae he has created in the store. But before he can investigate the complaints flow in that everyone is receiving wrong parts.

Took months to fix the mess created in a week. True storey smile.gif
