need basic motor advice

I am just starting out with some robotic work.· Bought a book and am on my very first project.· This project requires a small electrical motor.· The only description the book had was that the flatter or more "pancake" like, the better because the torque.· The problem I am running into is that the electrical components I have already soldered together need to solder to the body (top) of the motor.· Every small motor i find in stuff I have around the house or even online have a plastic top instead of metal.· What is the best way to find what I am looking for.· Thanks,
Jason

This thread is not BASIC Stamp related and is being moved to the Sandbox Forum.

Take the motor out of an old 3 1/2" floppy drive.
