Hey guys, does any one know of the exact detection freq of the Parallax ir detector? The data sheet for panasonic they give is for 4 freqs of 36.7khz thru 56.9khz and they also list a weekend project of a 40khz
detector. I can't tell from looking at the numbers on the part. Or does it really matter as long as your signal
is in that range?

Please look at Parallax's webstore page and reread the datasheet.

Parallax lists their part as the PNA4601. The datasheet lists the carrier frequency for that part as 36.7kHz. They also have a nice graph showing the response of the filter vs. frequency. For the PNA4601, a frequency of 38KHz gives about a 75% response and a frequency of 40KHz gives about a 30% response.

In the future, please make sure to give a subject for your message. You can click on the pencil icon in the upper right hand corner of your message box to add one.

Thanks Mike! That's what I read, but wasn't sure. I had seen your recent post on the propeller forum that seemed to imply 40khz.
Sorry about the "no subject" I should know better.
