While viewing a tv program how can I interface a Text Message to be seen at bottom of screen as a banner markee. The object is to send a message to an audience·warning them of·an instruction to follow.

Is there such a product allready in the market? Or can it be easily developed? Please Help !!!

Hitt Consulting (www.hittconsulting.com/) sells both an SX-based (SX Video Module) and a Propeller-based (HC-OSD) display module that does video overlaying (which is what you want to do). Both interface easily with a Stamp. The Propeller module can be used by itself if you're willing to modify the built-in program. There's a version of it that comes with a Basic interpreter built-in. See the Hitt Consulting website for details.

You apparently posted this three times. You should go to two of them and delete them.

Also unless you want to do this specifically with a Basic Stamp module, you might want to post this in the Sandbox instead of in one of the chip-specific forums.

As to your question itself, you need to be more specific. You're talking about one television set, right? I assume you're not talking about trying to broadcast text to a number of televisions (probably as illegal as it is impractical).

Just Google "video text inserter" and you see some other options.

Ditto re multiple posts and the "Sandbox".

    Cheers,

    hsantinni,

What you're trying to do will depend heavily on the TV. Overlay hardware requires a baseband (e.g. NTSC) output from the video equipment and a baseband input back to the video equipment; in other words, a loop that you can grab onto to intercept and modify the video signal before it gets to the screen. Most TVs will not provide this feature. They may have video outputs (for recording) and video inputs (for playback), but neither provides a way to break the chain from signal to screen.

One thing you can do, however, is use the tuner in a VCR or DVD player, route its output into the overlay device, then route the output of the overlay into the video input of the TV.
