ok i have a bs2 and a pcb what i want it to do is control about 10-16 led channels to do designs im going to be working with about 1000 leds and i have a separate power supply is this possible and how would i hook it up

    You could use Maxim's MAX6969 (here datasheets.maxim-ic.com/en/ds/MAX6969.pdf). This comes in a PDIP package, can control up to 16 LEDs, is cascadable to multiples of 16, and is easily controlled by a Stamp using the SHIFTOUT statement to handle CLK and DIN and PULSOUT to handle LE (latch enable). Read the Stamp Manual chapters on these statements and read the MAX6969 datasheet for examples.

    I picked up 6 of the MAX6969 just recently, been playing with 1 and they are the bom!
    Work great and are very fast to "load"
