project using the basic stamp 2 to dial a phone
please have anyone did a project using the basic stamp 2 to dial a phone.
if so how what kind of telephone did you use?
i have been using a panasonic speaker phone but it so complicated and advice on model telephone to use will be very helpful

I'm not familiar with the supplier ParallaxDirect.com (not us), but if they actually have the StampModem your problem may be solved. With two of them you can have one Stamp dial another and send data over the phone line.

To answer your question, there are a few methods you can use, it just depends on how you want to go about the task.
1) use the DTMF capabilities of the Stamp to generate DTMF tones through·an 8 Ohm speaker (use suggested speaker connection under the DTMFOUT command found in the stamp editor)·and acoustically couple the speaker to the telephone.
2) use a relay to intermittently "click-out" the number you wish to dial ... old rotary style phone dialing still works.
3) use a modem as suggested earlier in this thread.
Note: There is also a suggested circuit in the DTMFOUT command to connect directly to the Phone line.
