Using the defined source code for avoiding objects is there a a straight forward approach to following the movement and be able to have it back track if the user pressed a button for example?

No, there is not a "straight-forward" approach. The problem is that the Servo control of speed and distance traveled is not very exact. There's no "revolution counter" or anything on the wheel shafts, for instance. And while it's mostly repeatable (it IS possible to get a 90 degree turn, after all) as the battery runs down it gets less and less repeatable.

Having said that, you COULD write duration values into the eeprom while it's running, and then 'rewind' those duration values to 'back-track'. But it's still not going to be very exact.

You will really need something like the digital encoder product.

I am not looking for absolute accuracy, but I believe that to write duration values would be my best approach at this point.
