I am look for a good way to dim 120volt AC lights with a SX microcontoller.

One of the very first projects posted to the Completed Projects forum was an·triac dimmer controlled by a Basic Stamp.· Also EFX-TEK has some hardware and code already done.

Here's a pre-built solution (I designed this, too) that has an SX programming header on it that would allow you to reprogram the board:
