At the end of the Halloween Contest I hinted of a Christmas contest. It's time for:
OLDBITCOLLECTOR'S UNOFFICIAL PROPELLER CHRISTMAS CARD CONTEST
=============================================
Win a USB Propeller Protoboard & PING sensor
Rules are simple.
Create an animated and/or musical Christmas card using a Propeller
and your choice of display. TV, VGA, LCD*, LEDs*, Christmas lights, etc* --
Your Christmas card can be simply a greeting to those in the forum,
or could be as elaborate as an Christmas minigame, or massive light display.
All entries must be finished with code posted by Midnight EST on December 25th, 2008.
Jim Bagley (Baggers) has graciously volunteered to act as judge for this contest.
Sorry, only USA entries will be eligible for the prize.
Posted video of your Christmas card will certainly give you an extra point or two. :)
Bonus points awarded to Christmas cards containing holiday message, music, & minigame.
Your Christmas card *must* contain at least 1 Propeller Chip. Other hardware/software is
completely permissible. So if BASIC STAMP or SX or something else is also required, use it!
(*LCD, LEDs, Christmas lights, etc contest entries are required to post a video in case the judge is unable
to replicate your hardware configuration.)
Here's some idea's to get you started: C64 Christmas Demo & Elf Bowling & Wizards of Christmas & Jingle Disk

Anything which uses the Propeller to do a fun Christmas display with visual & audio will
be considered a "Propeller Christmas Card" -- Of course the mini-game part might require
some creative thinking using the later, but it's bonus points anyway.
The idea here is to have fun using your Propeller and inspire others to do the same.
Of course if this leads you into some new learning territories at the same time...............

I've been playing with this thing going on 2 years and I'm still learning!
In fact, I might get mine done if I can wrestle down the issues I'm having with the wav player.
(Not Raymond's fault!)

so I've extended this contest to December 25th.
That gives everyone 6 more days!
(Although I'd love to see some Propeller Christmas magic before Christmas.)
Santa's got a USB Protoboard & PING sensor for someone.. :)

regardless of the contest beeeing closed or not for this year, I got an idea.
I have no time to realize it myself so I "throw it in" and whoever likes to do it - do it:
the propeller gets midi-input and controls some kind of electromechanical drives
that make a small stick hit a bell. If the bells all have a different size to create
each note of two octaves it could play melodies. If you put all the bells in the christmal-tree
the tree itself would play christmas-melodies by ringing the bells.
Or other version: to use small loudspeakers to create the sound and green-red or rgb-leds leds that flicker like candles
best regards
Stefan
