Robot wheels

I guess I need some sources for some robot wheels, I looked in on ebay, and did not find anything that suited me. What I am looking for is 2-4" dia, 1" thick wheels. The tread on these should be able to handle all types of carpeting, and·wood floors, especially the transition area between the two. This is for an indoor robot, and should be able to handle at least a 20lb payload. And of course I will need a good source for the drive train for the wheels, still undecided as to whether I will use a DC motor, or a stepper motor system. Probably the hardest part will be to find the wheels.

Thanks

Ray

Take a look at the Parallax wheel/motor combo. I don't have a set myself, but they look pretty good.

Thanks for the leads so far, I think this is going to take awhile longer than expected. I was amazed at the prices, the Omni wheels sort of look promising, but $40-60, that is pretty rich, and I still do not know if it would do the job that I stated above. The Parallax offering is intriguing, if I were to do a robot for outside use, there price is not cheap. I would like to add a company for those of you that are following this thread, Acroname, they also sell Omni style wheels. So, the search is still on...

    Thanks

    Hello Ray,

One of my favorite wheels to use for robots:

Some of their wheels were popular at the Battlebots event I attended years ago and they are also great for regular robots.

Banebots has a new series of wheels that look good. I haven't used them yet. http://banebots.com/

    John,

I have tested the Banebots wheels and they are very nice. They are also less expensive than most other wheels I have looked into and come in three tread hardness levels, though all seem to work equally on the surfaces I have tested on.
