Does anyone know what the edge mounted PCB pins are called that are used for example on the Basic Stamp modules. Are they available from any of the usual suppliers in the UK· - RS, Farnell,·Rapid?

Thanks in advance

They are a boutique component and are only availible on giant reels that we have to special order (from France IIRC).

    Thanks Paul
I feared as much. The reason for asking was that I want to replace another 40 pin DIP uC (which shall remain nameless) with a LQFP propeller based adaptor board - I can still do it with turned pin headers but it won't look as good.

A couple times we have snipped a small portion off and mailed it to a customer (they are delicate and frequently get bent during shipping), but with you living in the UK, I think the shipping costs wouldn't make it worth your while.

I use SIL turned pins if I need to make a plug-in module. The PCB has to be a bit bigger, of course.

Yes that is how I would do it and yes·it has to be bigger and really doesn't look as good (professional) in a commercial product. My main regret is that I had not discovered the prop when I produced the units that need the uC replacing..........
