Use Basic Stamp to trigger PC app?

HI!
I'm trying to find an easy way to trigg a VJ-application with my Basic Stamp. Before I switch to my backup-plan to use MIDI I would like to see if anyone has an simple solution to my problem. I want to "grab" the debug information already sent from the stamp (I've seen the VB examples here) and use this as virtual keyboard input in my other application to trigger certain effects and videoaction. Is this very complicated? Haven't writtten code (besides html & php) for ages, so if it's to demanding I'll go for the Midi-solution instead.
Any suggestions are really welcome / Kristian (Hope my english works...)
