How do i place a off page connection in eagle cad software. For example I want pin 3 on the propeller to go to some other place in the schematic but I don't want to run a wire all over the place, I want to just add a label or some off page mark.

Thnaks

It's a while since I've used Eagle and I don't have it installed here to check but ... I think what you want to do is add a short length of wire comming out of your device (Pin 3 on the Propeller in your example) which ends in "fee space" ie not connecting to any other pin. Then add a name or label (forget the terms used in Eagle) to that wire. Now do the same at the other end, wherever that connection should go. Eagle should now know that these are to be connected.

Hmm is it add "wire" or add "net" ? So long ago now....

    Is it a bus wire?

no i mean you use a bus wire one that you can name both ends to be the same net

I just run a wire from a pin on IC1 to a pin on IC2 that is all i can say. I want to leave an off page connector but this is getting so difficult for some thing so simple. Oh well.

Connect a little wire to the pin and rename it. Use the 'Name' tool (it's the same one you use to rename parts). Then draw another wire somewhere else and rename that one too. Nets with the same name are 'connected' and will be used for PCB layout and ERC checks.

Use the 'Label' tool (the one with the ABC above the wire) to put a label the net. Doing this reduces confusion, and makes your schematic a little cleaner.

Also remember that you can type all these commands in the command textbox instead of trying to find the tool button. Type 'name' to set the name of an object and type 'label' to set the label.

My post included steps on how to do that. I just mentioned PCB layout because I wanted to reiterate the fact that Eagle fully understands these renamed nets and will use them throughout your design.

When you create the new net(wire coming off the pin), it makes things easier to manage if you make those nets thicker than other wires, just go to the tool icon, choose width, make them wider so they stand out. Press the label icon as Harrison said, then click on the wire you made, it will make a label appear. Click the name button (10k icon) and click on the wire to rename it.

When using labels, you must go back through your design to make sure they are really connected to the part, it is easy to do this by double clicking on the part to see if the wire lights up indicating it is connected.

You can use labels for power, gnd, vss, vdd etc if you want too.

Another thing is, if you are are using multiple instances of the same net running to different parts, and you happen to come back later and delete a part, there are cases where you may accidentally un-name other nets by the same name, so always pay close attention to net names when deleting labels.
