Using an ADC with the basic stamp?

Hello Everyone,
····· I bought the "What's a·Microcontroller?" kit and have become very familiar with it, however... I have not used a "Smart sensor" as of yet (like a ping or ADC).

Anyway after painstakingly soldering the ADC to some wire fibers... I ... Don't know what to do....·I know how to power it, but how do·I talk to·it? Or is it as easy as putting the voltage into "REF in (-)" and data comes out of "REF in (+)"·and·I read it like a Photocell?

I can’t really discern anything from your pictures, but it almost looks like you have bare cooper wires touching each other. The ADC should have been able to plug directly into the breadboard with no soldering required. It’s unclear why you did not follow that route though.
