chaser lights using leds and ir devices

first of all is it possible to write a program for the bs2 HWB or the BOE to wire up a string of LED's and give them the chaser bulb effect

also if you can hook LED's up to a bs2's bread board could a person use ir emitters and receivers that way as well just write the software to do what is necessary ....

Sure, just make sure that you don't draw too much current on the LEDs, and that you have enough I/O pins to use.

Not sure what you mean on the second part. You can use IR LEDs and visible LEDs on the same board, and they won't affect each other (since the IR is modulated).
