Blown BS2???

I was wondering if their is a way to know if you have blown a BS2. I am working through the What's a microcontroller? handbook and got up to Experiment 5 and think I must have not connected the circuit correctly - anyway now when I try to load any program into the stamp the editor says "No Basic Stamps found". Yes I have power to the BOE and the serial cable is connected. Any help before I shell out $49.00 for a new stamp would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jason

If the Editor can't find it and the serial cable is fine and worked before and you have proper power at the Stamp module, then the Stamp is probably busted. Call Parallax in the morning and talk to the support people. They'll run you through the same checks, then give you a return authorization number to return it if it still doesn't work.

Do double check everything. It's relatively difficult to completely wreck a Stamp if the power supply is connected properly. You can burn out individual I/O pins and groups of pins, but that doesn't always disable the chip itself.

i thought i broke mine when i set pin 15 low (this was all the program consisted of) because the light came on and went out right away but it was just pure stupidity mine is still ok.
yeah i know how indestructable they are i still have not managed to actually break it yet i am really amazed i have actually started using a grounding wrist strap to protect the not so indestructable components
