Shift Register to ULN2803

I could use a bit of wiring advise on the following....

BS2 serial out to 74HC595 Shift Register and the 74HC595 Shift Register outputs drive ULN2803's for a higher final current drive.

My question is... Can the outputs of the 74HC595 be directly connected to the inputs of the ULN2803's, or are series current limiting resisters in order here? Either data sheets don't answer this question, or I'm not able to figure it out. (It's much more likely the later!)

The Shift-Register outputs can be connected directly to the inputs of the ULN2803. Take care.
