912 Mhz RF Module IM app.
This is a little application I wrote to test out the now discontinued 912 MHz RF Module Transceiver from Parallax. These little devices are pretty cool, and I thought it would be neat to set up a IM program between two (with Debug terminals).
It's really a simple program copied twice (once for each console), but since Parallax doesn't provide any sample code, I thought I might. Try it out. Even with all the cell phones and other wireless devices that we have nowdays, it's still exciting to see something of your own sending wireless signals.
A note about the modules and SEROUT/SERIN: 9600 baud for the BS2 is a little fast, and I noticed that the reciever was messing it up. So the program transmits each letter as it's typed. Unless you type at 9600 bps, then the program should work fine.
And finally, a question for Parallax: why discontinue these modules? They seem to be better in every way when compared to the other ones that you have. I sure you have a good reason...

Parallax did not discontinue the modules, in fact, we tried to get the manufacturer to continue making them for us. I think their focus has moved to another RF Module, though it doesn’t have the range that these units did.

Any equivalent transreceiver in mind yet that can be used with the original 912MHz transreceiver?
