Hi anyone got the 3D model of the Parallax Motor Mount & Wheel Kit with Position Controller in SolidWorks 2005 please?

The one available for download is in SolidWorks 2009 I think.

Thanks

    Hi Ryan,

The files posted on the website are SolidWorks 2008 files. Unfortunately we do not have any way of generating a SolidWorks 2005 model. If you are just interested in viewing the file, you can check out the eDrawing file; which also allows you to take measurements off the model. Additionally, there is a free viewer for SolidWorks 2008 files. However, the viewer is only that, it would not allow you to import the file if you are trying to use it in an assembly.

I assume you are probably designing a model of your entire robot and want to import the model of the wheel kit to see how it will fit, right? If this is the case, we could output the file in a different format such as IGES, STEP, or Parasolid since you should be able to import those file types. I should point out though, that the same model in an IGES format (or other non-SolidWorks format) is a pretty large file and takes FOREVER (~5-10 minutes) to load. That is the reason we decided not to offer it for download on the website.

As a compromise, we could dramatically simplify the original model by removing fillets, and suppressing unnecessary details on the tire, motor, and circuit board. Then when the file is output as an IGES, it should be much more manageable (but won't look nearly as pretty smilewinkgrin.gif ). This is probably one of the best options for importing the file into an older version of SolidWorks.

    Would this work for you?

A new face at Parallax. Hi!

If none of those work, some dimensions might in order to get a rough approximation of the device.

Thanks I'll try to get a copy of SolidWorks 2008. Hmm could you suggest screws that I can fix from my casing into the mounting block?

    Hi,

To get measurements/dimensions of any of the parts in the Motor Mount and Wheel Kit, just look at the eDrawing model file. This can be downloaded from the product webpage at: http://www.parallax.com/tabid/134/productid/507/default.aspx
Note that you also need to download a free lightweight eDrawing viewer in order to view the eDrawing file. You can take any measurement you might need directly from this file including measurements between points, edges, surfaces, etc.

The mounting blocks are tapped for 1/4"-20 screws in the top and bottom, and tapped for #8-32 screws on the outside face.

Someone can tell me how the robocut perimeter wire and receiver work please? What the components in the circuits are for?
