Hello Everyone,
·
·· Parallax would like to extend our appreciation and congratulations to Mike Green whom, as of today, has become the top poster on these forums.· Mike has been a contributing member of these forums since October 2004 and has had the patience of a saint answering questions ranging from general tech support to design theory.· Mike has also helped us maintain some level of organization by helping members to be aware of forum guidelines, as well as things they can do that will help them get the information they need.
·
·· Community forums like these only work well and function well when there are dedicated individuals who are willing to spend their free time helping others in what they are passionate about.· As a former customer of Parallax I understand this as well as anyone and can appreciate the investment these individuals put into doing this.· I’m sure most of our members know the others to whom I am referring.· We have posted in the past a member appreciation and recognition, however today is Mike’s day.· Thank you Mike and take care everyone.

I know Mike is a modest guy and will likely be embarrassed by all the attention, but I'm sure he'll survive! smile.gif

Mike, you've given more of your time, considerable expertise, and boundless patience than words can adequately account for. The sheer quantity of your posts is more than matched by their quality, and we are truly fortunate to have you as a contributor. Thanks for all you do here!

Mike's posts are always informative and well thought out.

Quantity without quality doesn't mean so much. Mike gives us both. Congrats Mike!

Thank you all.

I've become aware, particularly in the last 6 months, of the amazing number of other people answering questions, making suggestions, doing experiments, and posting very impressive software, particularly for the Propeller. What a wonderful community we have!

Hey oh! I've learned a lot going thru old forum posts - many answered by Mike. I'm sure there are many other lurkers whom you've helped to enjoy the hobby.

Maybe it's campy, but I really belive that a welcoming attitude like your's is critical in encouraging students & hobbyists to get excited about math, logic, electronics, & engineering. Hats off!

Indeed, Mike, thank you. And thank you too Chris, as the former #1, I don't detect a hint of envy. 9214 to 9212 as I write this, and worth a tribute to both of you for being both prolific and preeminently helpful.

No sir Tracy...members such as Mike and yourself make my job that much easier.· Besides the information you all offer, the time saved answering questions by myself could be better utilized addressing specific issues, updating code and documentation based on feedback gotten from the forums and of course, developing new products.· This serves the community as a whole.· Of course,·we always welcome your feedback on how we can improve our service to our customers.· Take care.

About a year ago I was trying to decide what processor to use for a robot project and other hobby level projects. I had some very old experience using a 6502 many many years ago. While the propeller was intriguing I was concerned that its strengths would prove to be too much of a learning curve. That is, until I started reading this forum. I was so impressed with the quality of the forum and people like Mike and Phil and many others that I decided to commit to the Propeller.

Thanks to Mike and the many others that help make this forum one of the reasons to pick Parallax !

Thank you, and congratulations, Mr. Green.

I doubt that you'll ever know how many people you've helped. I've gotten quite a bit out of reading your answers to others' questions, even when I didn't chip in myself.

I noticed that Mike Green lists his occupation as a "physician".
He must be one hell of a doctor who can make his own MRI scanners.

Hello Mike,

Another "thank you" from Parallax. We appreciate all of the help you provide to eveybody on the forums. We want you to know that if you ever become tired of answering our questions and need a break (temporarily, permanent, or whatever) please take it. We know that forum support can be a non-stop, around the clock project and I've seen some past forum members hit the burnout point. We support you and respect your needs and enjoy your involvement on the forums.

Sincerely,

This site has a SAVAGE administrator and an EVERGREEN contributor, both have helped me many times. Thanks a stack guys, we appreciate your amazing contributions. (EVERGREEN describes Mike very well but to be honest, SAVAGE does not match Chris’ style, he goes out of his way to avoid ruffling our feathers)
·
And lets also remember the many other amazing guys who’ve also contributes. I have deliberately not named them because I’d leave out half a dozen. Thanks people. The company, the employees and other stakeholders that make this forum possible, ·I salute you too…

Now this might sound a bit controversial but would appreciation for contributors like Mike be better shown by a small contribution to a Paypal account held by Parallax or perhaps an option to donate when purchasing products so those grateful of help could donate to and the contributors who give so much of their time and knowledge to reach the accolade of top poster could use the donation to select a parallax product of their choice.

I would willingly contribute what i could afford in gratitude for the helpful advice given.

Is this an impractical idea?

Mike is truly an inspiration and a role model in many ways. There are several incredibly well-informed people in this forum, and Mike is right there at the top of the list. Beyond his boundless technical knowledge, he distinguishes himself through his near-instant, tireless, thoughtful, PATIENT, well-written, insightful and thought-provoking replies that are a joy to read. He sets the bar very high and makes me think twice before I post anything that contains technical information. I wanna be like Mike!

Mike, I thank you personally for your many valuable contributions and for keeping me on my toes.

Mike Green: it's the greatest honor to have you here on the forum with us
and your continuing spectacular ability in answering questions on so many
varied technical topics is remarkable and deeply appreciated. I remember
numerous threads where you were called a guru and a master. No doubt,
you've surpassed those titles but won't admit it. Modesty is a sign of great
intelligence and combined with logic, ability to problem solve and share
knowledge has gained you many devoted friends. We thank you with

Add my thanks to Mike G. (and many others too!)

I'm not really a high volume poster, but I've received a lot of help from different people on these forums, Mostly in the replies to other peoples' questions. When I do post a question, it's almost always answered quickly. These forums are a great resource. About a year ago, I was really bitten by the MCU/programming bug. Part of the reason I chose the SX and Prop over the PIC, or other MCU, was the forum support.

Mike, you make the forum worth reading... every day. I also chose the Propeller because of the quality of the forum. And I tend to download anything that you say:)

I didn't know that you were a physician. AND you are interested in acupuncture!

So, for everybody that thinks that acupuncture is sort of like a placebo, if it was a placebo Mike wouldn't be interested in it.. We just don't have the science to understand how it works.

The World Health Organization reviewed traditional acupuncture(as practiced in China) and found it effective for the treatment of over 50 chronic and degenerative diseases?

Most of my questions don't present much of a challenge to Mike, yet he has answered them

Thanks Mike for not only allowing all of us to pick your brain, but also not laughing loudly
