Dead NES Controller, possible exchange?

The NES controller that came with my Hydra recently died. When I press A, it returns $FF instead of only returning with the A bit set. None of the other buttons work. It appears that the LATCH line is broken. Can I exchange it? The outer insulation right where it enters the connector is broken, but none of the inner wires appear to be broken. It is missing a screw and a dome due to my disassembling it to diagnose the problem.
