RGB LEDs

Been meaning to play with one of those Full Color LEDs from Radio Shack for a while.

Finally got a chance to sit down with one today. I'm sure I could add some PWM and get some more colors.
{What can I say, I'm still amused by pretty flashing lights. :)}

It's a nice beginner project so it's going in the book near the front.

    Have you ever found a datasheet for them?

    I honestly didn't dig far for the datasheet. A couple seconds of jumpering and I was in business.

    OBC, You might want to comment that if they dont get them from radio shack to check that they are getting common anode rgb leds. I have some common cathode leds so the pinout is inverted.

    Mike, If you are interested there is a datasheet for the ones I use, see http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/1074. Interesting enough some of the voltages are close/above 3.3 but I have found they work driven by a prop.

    Tim, Thanks.. I would have thought that if I specified the RS# I would be safe, but
    then again, this is Radio Shack we're talking about.. :)

    RGB LEDs are fun! I wouldn't buy them from radio shack, but they are still awesome! I have made a 10 X 10 rgb dot matrix display (still needs programming), and they are just fun to flash in random patterns. I have stuck them on anything and everything. If you want to pwm alot of them, use a TLC5940 (I used 2). Thats about all the random thoughts I got.
