was reading about propdos and had a thought

i was reading the propdos blurb and had a thought, "wouldnt it be cool if it could be used to program itself" and then i got thinking even harder, would it be possible, so now i have this question that i know somebody should be able to answer

·would it be possible to use the propdos to right a file, then execute that file, say you program it in some language made up much like spin, then have an interperter run the program and then the dos system could return any variables that are wanted, and finally, is anyone working on something like this or am i dreaming to big again

FemtoBasic was an attempt to do something like that. It has some statements that, when executed directly, act a bit like an OS. It also is a Basic interpreter. It can be used to set up a kiosk with a menu that is used to run different Spin programs.

A compiler that runs on the Propeller itself is a lot of work. Compilers have certainly been written for smaller computers, but it is a lot of work to do.
