Looking for ADC, I2C & PDIP

Can someone point me in the right direction?

I'm looking for an ADC with the following:
Interface: I2C
Resolution: 8 or more bit
Package: PDIP
# of Pins: Depends, right now 2 channels would be sufficient, but more is ok

Seems like all that I'm finding are surface mount, I know I need to get with the times and start working with SMT packages!

Thanks in advance!

    Hi Mike,

There is the venerable PCF8591P from NXP (formerly Philips).

    4 channel ADC + 1 channel DAC, 8 bits, in 16 DIP.

    SWEET!

    Thanks Tracy!

And they are in stock at www.mouser.com, can have some by Tuesday.

I was about to 'dust off' BASCOM-AVR and make my own I2C Slave I/O helper chip out of an ATMEGA chip, saves me a lot of work!

    Thanks again!

The PCF8591 is a good chip ifor 8 bits and flexibility. The 4 ADC channels can be configured in different ways for single ended or differential, with span and offset pins, and the channels can be read singly or cycling through all 4 rapidly in one I2C command. Plus the single DAC.

It seems like so many other companies have licensed and run with I2C, but Philips/NXP is still slowly expanding their I2C product line:

    The PCF8591 will do nicely.

Right now single ended will do, and the DAC is a bonus. I can use the DAC for another project ‘in the works’.

Ordered some this morning and they should be here tomorrow afternoon. I also discovered that Jon has written a couple of Nuts & Volts articles (#79, #85, #115) for the Basic Stamp. This will help getting them working ‘out of the bag’ when the chips arrive. Will need to convert this code for SX/B and Propeller code routines.

    Thanks for the suggestion!
