A while back it was noticed that Sparkfun has USB to 5.5mm adapters,
www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=8639
They look a little small for use with the Protoboard, PPDB, etc.
I curious if anyone has a source for ready-made 2.1mm adapter plugs
connected to a 9v battery clip? Or a single source for both parts?
I'd like to document the conversion of a protoboard to a battery
without having folks hack off the connector from a power supply and
tie it to a 9v clip. (like mine)

From Radio Shack (if you're in a hurry and don't care about price):

If I were doing this, I'd be more incined to go with a 6V, 4-cell holder like this one. The batteries will last longer.

I prefer this clip at Radio Shack for 9 volts. I just got some of the plugs from Radio Shack the other day. They work great in the Proto Board. I hooked one up to Bean's 5 Cell AA holders. I prefer the AA's also and have rechargables. This was done for playing around with the Proto·Board·and a possible BoeBot with the Proto Board. I am keeping it in my Proto Board box now.
Getting both parts from Radio Shack and doing a little soldering and maybe some Heat Shrink tubing would be·a good do-it-yourself project for your book. Double check center positve!
