DIY Dolby?

This might be a good project for the Propeller. If you made a better noise reduction, you might become as wealthy as Dolby. After all, the movie industry depends on good sound. Dolby has be around for a long time and there are indeed successful digital noise reduction schemes.
Has anyone tried to develop anything?
