Ram usage

I am working on a SXB program that unfortunately uses a lot of word variables. My sx 28 is out of ram. I have 2 questions.

1) Is there more room for variables on different pages of· memory?

2) I tried compiling the same program changing the device to sx48 and the
·· compiler still said there was not enough ram, why?
