I took over support for GEAR about a year ago. Never officially, but Asterick made the original source available and hasn't been seen on the forum for quite a while. The changes I made can be found at http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?p=701256·and further down the posting is a version of the source code.
At the moment it does as much as I want it too with the amount of time I have available to put into it.
The source code has been downloaded many times, but I've never seen anyone else make any real contribution to GEAR!
