Distance of XTAL from the prop - any potential problems?

Quick question -

I'm designing a board and am finding it hard to squeeze the XTAL in next to the prop, so was thinking of putting it on the board edge, about 5cm away from the prop.
Will this cause any problems?

It's very bad from an EMC point of view, and could introduce noise into other parts of the circuit, as well as affecting other equipment. I always place the crystal and associated capacitors first when designing a PCB, and route their connections first.

One problem you might see: if the leads between your Prop and crystal pick up any stray pulses (noise), it will look like the crystal is running faster than it's supposed to.

OK, looks like I should do some re-routing!
    Thanks for your answers.
